Traveling with kids can be incredibly difficult. But the hacks below will help make the experience both easier and more enjoyable for the entire family.
Sleep on the plane: kids sleep, parents are awake. Not anymore! Bring the kids on the plane during their normal nap or bedtime.
It can be challenging to go on a trip and have to find food for a hungry child, especially when they don't have food is not easily accessible. Finding a hotel with a kitchenette or an easily accessible microwave can save the parents a lot of stress and a lot of meltdowns.
To help with boredom during the trip, do a little research and find 1 child related activity for each destination. Having some planned activities can help with boredom and reduce the chance of a meltdown.
Kids can be easily annoyed. A new hack to help get rid of the whining is to give each child a backpack. Fill the backpack with some snacks, activities, and a water bottle. This helps them feel more responsible.
A meltdown can happen very quickly and easily if a child is separated from you during the trip. To help, take a picture of each of your kids at the beginning of each day. Then, if a child gets separated from you, you can easily show others exactly what they look like and what they are wearing.
Kids can get overstimulated and overscheduled easily. It is recommended to do 1 activity planned each day.
Before you trip, learn a few phrases in the local language with your kids. Kids love using the phrases, so they will be entertained during the trip.
The best family trips are the trips where you are rewarded for good behavior. Giving a reward for patience is more important than rewarding perfection. If your child waits for a long time and does not complain, reward that patience.
